I founded The Fierce Fighter Project in memory of my late cousin, Krishna Broker, whose battle with childhood cancer deeply impacted me and inspired me to help other children facing the same fight. I wanted to create something that could bring comfort to kids entering chemotherapy, so I started this organization to provide backpacks filled with items that can make treatment and hospital stays a little easier.
Each backpack is inspired by things that brought Krishna comfort during her time in the hospital, including items like blankets, headphones, journals, cards, mints, and other thoughtful essentials. Through this project, I hope to remind children and their families that they are supported, cared for, and not facing this battle alone.
Over the past two years, The Fierce Fighter Project has raised more than $55,000 and the materials to deliver over 400 backpacks to pediatric cancer patients across North Texas. We currently work with Medical City Dallas, Cook Children’s in Fort Worth, and the Texas Proton Center in Irving to help reach children beginning treatment.
Those interested in supporting the project can contribute through monetary donations or by donating items for future backpacks.
